After four days of camping in favour of the Basque Country at the Public University of Navarra, and after several talks and protests, a demonstration took place on Saturday in the Plaza de los Ajos. They have claimed that they want to study in Basque at the university, and have asked, among other things, for a plan to be put in place for Euskera, for a vice-rector to be created for Euskera, for more credits to be offered in Basque and for workers to be aware of Euskera. Protesters have criticised the fact that in the UPNA the Basque Country is not in the background, but in the third place: “The university beats English before the Basque Country.”
The page Ahotsa.info has reported that hundreds of people have gathered and that according to the organizers, the “complete” student movement has joined claims: “It has become clear that the struggle to learn Basque has the support of the student community.” Feminist groups from the UPNA, young girls students, the women's group Akelarre, ERNAI, the University Force, EHE, the Observatory on Linguistic Rights, LAB and sortu, among others, participated in the demonstration.
