As the pandemic progresses, COVID-19 is so effective that it seems that it will kill many lives and kill the world. In the first wave, the world we know under the name of “left” (i.e. outside PNV and UPN, all other parties) said little, and did not express a voice of its own in the action taken by the governments here and there. On the other hand, despite the fact that many social movements were left out of the game, we could see the organization of care, which aimed to cope with the terrible everyday life. We all did what we could.
For the second wave I expected another preparation. Unfortunately, however, and despite the fact that the current health situation has a great need for its own voices and ideas, this need remains unmet, despite the fact that the new proposals are more indispensable than ever, that they face measures that have no other objective than to reduce freedom.
The lack of criticity in managing the pandemic has given rise to a concrete picture: In Navarre, the young people of the leftist parties have set aside their political differences in order to be able to deal jointly with COVID-19. A clear gesture of the end of the political order we know.
The coronavirus pandemic is also being a stress test for social organization, and we will have to address the questions before us. What is the main challenge of this historic moment; what subjects are behind it; how to recover an effective, critical and dignified daily policy; a reorganization of powers under the excuse of health...
Our grandparents' generation had a war, our parents had Franco's transition and death, we had the coronavirus pandemic. To face this historic moment, we will surely need other tools, other relationships and political alliances, other courage. If we say and do the same thing as power, power will devour us.
