The VOX party wanted to organise a commemorative event on the 500th anniversary of the battle, in the same place where the monument to war is located. The Battle of Noain, which organizes the association every year, has removed the association and the political party from authorizing the use of the area by the municipal plenary of Salinas. They explain that accepting the request of either would cause problems.

On 26 June, the Battle of Noáin Association wanted to organize the commemoration of the half-century battle. The municipal corporation of Salinas de Añana leaves them every year the use of space, and in 2021 they have also been preparing the rays to do so. However, it has been known this weekend, through the media, that VOX wants to organise a political event there. Finally, they have decided not to allocate the area to either.

The Municipal Corporation explained in a statement that if the space were left to VOX or the association, or if both events were organized jointly, there would be problems. On the one hand, because of the coverage it would have on social networks and media; on the other hand, because there would be a large number of people in the area where the event is organized, which would prevent compliance with health measures.

They expose that land ownership is theirs, that it is not a land in the public domain. He has therefore asked the Spanish Government’s delegation in Navarre and the foral executive to ensure that this ownership is respected in order to avoid confrontations between the administrations.

Manifestations

Last weekend, the Nafarroa Berriz Altxa Association organised a demonstration in Pamplona to link what happened in the Battle of Noáin – after the conquest of 1512, the Kingdom of Navarre was integrated into the Crown of Castile when it lost the war of 1521 – with the current proclamation of sovereignty.
