The court, which has rejected Sarkozy’s appeals, maintains its June decision, obliges the former president to sit on the bench with 13 other defendants. It is accused of being illegally funded in the 2012 presidential election campaign. In addition, he is accused of subsidising the 2007 presidential election campaign with the help of then-Libyan President Muammar Khadafi.

Bygmalion is studying the possibility of Sarkozy having made irregular funding from the UMP (Union for a Citizens' Movement), which was not yet covered. On the other hand, the former Prime Minister of France, Edouard Balladur, was also charged in the case. Where appropriate, he will be tried for a corruption case in the 1995 general election.
