The “total war” with Russia could be in the next 20 years, according to Military Committee President Rob Bauer. Thus, he points out that if the armed forces are prepared to break out of war, the citizens should be prepared for a conflict that entails a radical change in their lives. He adds that the public opinion of the NATO countries must understand that war cannot be eradicated in the coming years and that it is a “phenomenon involving the whole of society”. It stresses that in the event of the outbreak of war, Governments should mobilize civilians and adjust the “systems needed to manage the process”.

NATO military exercises

In this context, several countries continue to feed the militarist route, according to Il Messaggero-. In fact, NATO has announced that until May it will conduct a series of military exercises, “one of the largest in history”, with the participation of 90,000 soldiers from 31 states and numerous vehicles, aircraft and boats spread throughout Europe. Britain has committed some 20,000 soldiers for its exercises. And Russia has tripled military spending to 40 percent of the total national budget, accelerating production lines.
