The VII Environmental Fair of Navarra organized by the CPAEN/NNPEK will be held again in the Sensory Park of Noáin. A natural environment of 25,000 square meters where, in addition to the market with more than 30 producers, you can enjoy the organic farming and livestock, the eco-gastronomic space, the livestock exhibition of native breeds, performances, workshops, sweepstakes and children's area. The fair will be a “zero garbage” event that will allow us to inform and reflect on the agro-ecological transition, as the organizers have made known today.

In addition, in this organic food fair in Navarre there will be different activities to have fun, learn about organic farming or reflect on food systems.

Although the VII Feria Orgánica de Navarra mainly hosts Navarre producers and companies, it will also be possible to meet producers from other autonomous communities and French producers. Thus, the wines, cheeses, beers, vegetables, oils, honey, eggs, meats, preserves, bread, pasta, milk or ecological condiments of Navarra will be added to other products such as fruits, orange juices, veal and pork preserves, seeds or cosmetics.

The fair, besides the market that will be located in the center of the park, will have a children's space, a gastronomic space and a space for conferences and workshops where you can reflect.

The VII Feria Orgánica de Navarra dedicates this edition to the agroecological transition. Mirian Otxotorena, president of CPAEN/NNPEK, said that “there is an urgent need to act on the current agri-food system to produce and obtain just, sustainable and healthy food.” In the words of the organizers, "this is a decisive moment", so a round table has been organised in which different experiences of the territory will be involved. In it, participants will put on the table the steps that are being taken and where they will have to go in the future. 7% of the agricultural area of Navarre is certified organic. According to the European Commission's strategy "From Land to Bureau", this figure should reach 25% by 2030: There are only 8 years left. "Navarre is moving forward, but the road to travel is still long and the time we have to do so is short," says the CPAEN/NNPEK.

The round table will take place on Saturday morning from 11:00 to 13:00 and will be led by Mirian Otxotorena, President of CPAEN/NNPEK. The participants shall be: Ester Montero, Arrate Corres, Thomas Erguy (Coordinator of the Biharko Land Association) and a representative of the Hazialdea Extensive Crops Association.

In addition, the Ministry of Rural Development, Itziar Gómez, has called a new edition of the fair, in which it has highlighted the Department’s commitment to organic production: “The Foral Law of Short Ways on Agri-Food Marketing of Navarra has all the necessary reports for approval by the Governing Board. It shall regulate and directly promote the marketing of food between the holders of agricultural holdings and final consumers. Through this law we will support and improve the viability of small farms to make them more competitive.”

Prolific program from Thursday to Sunday

In addition to this quote, on Thursday, September 15, the documentary “The World Starts On Your Plate” will be shown in the Filmoteca de Navarra. Afterwards, a colloquium will be held with the director of the documentary. The gastronomic area will be managed by the Station, where, in addition to offering organic food and drinks, tastings will be made. In the children's space there will be workshops, storytellers, games, inflatable and ecological tiobibo. In addition, you can visit the organic livestock exhibition and enjoy musical performances.

The fair will open on Friday from 17:00 to 20:00. Saturday from 11:00 to 14:30 and from 17:00 to 20:00 and the gastronomic space from 11:00 to 21:00. Sunday from 11:00 to 14:30.

Zero Waste Market

It is also noteworthy that the fair will be a zero waste event. It is an event designed, organized and developed in such a way as to minimize, reuse and ensure the recycling of waste generated. An event that generates as little waste as possible and that also takes measures to prevent food waste.

Event needed to know the organic production of Navarra

The fair will be a meeting between producers and consumers. But those attending the fair, besides buying, tasting or enjoying activities, will have the opportunity to get to know a growing sector, with over 800 operators in Navarre and over 2,500 certified foods. In fact, during the first six months of this year 108 new operators have been incorporated into organic production. The same is true of consumption, as more and more people are demanding healthy, chemical-free and sustainably produced foods.
