Real Estate Calls for the Demolition of Castejón’s Power Plants within the Navarre Energy Plan
  • The Government of Navarre presents its new energy plan in the draft “Vision 2030 Energy Plan”. Although it intends to increase the use of renewable energies from 21% to 51%, the Real Estate denounces that the plan does not say anything about the closure of the thermal power plants in Castejón.

The collective has called for decisions on the three “illegal” thermal power plants located in the municipality of Castejón. The three sentences were declared illegal by the two groups of the Castejón Combined Cycle, the last one granted by the Spanish Supreme Court in 2016. Both belong to the company EDP HC Energía -formerly Elerebro-, which has been repeatedly denounced by environmentalists as not yet closed.

For not making proposals on this issue, the planning of the Energy Plans presented by the Government of Navarre has been denounced as “unfavorable”. “We can only ask the Navarrese government to close and demolish this facility in planning.”

The Real Estate Foundation insists that if you want to take steps from the point of view of energy sovereignty, you must end with energy growth, ending definitively with fossil fuels and not complementing them with renewables. In the same vein, it has been claimed that more centralized infrastructures are not needed.
