The Asociación de Hostelería y Turismo de Navarra has denounced that the hospitality sector is in "disaster". In his view, the measures taken by the Government of Navarre in the field of hospitality are being "ineffective" in dealing with the impact of the pandemic and will therefore once again appeal to the Superior Court of Justice of Navarre.
"Scientific evidence does not justify major cuts when compared to other autonomous communities such as Madrid or La Rioja and, in addition, until now, other alternatives for reconciling the economy and health have not been put in place, such as adequate ventilation through a CO2 measurement," the association explains. The hotel owners have also provided some data, so they have pointed out that, according to the Government of Navarra, only 5% of the pollution is due to consumption.
In Navarre, the interior of bars and lodgings is closed, although not so the terraces. Thus, as in Araba, Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia, the Navarros hotels will choose the way of justice, the judicial way.
In the case of the CAV, the TSJPV gave them the reason and currently they can have the interiors open if they are not in the red zone, in these cases only for breakfasts and meals – this measure has also been resorted to. In Ipar Euskal Herria, on the contrary, all accommodations are currently closed, as are shops or schools, both inside and outside.
Proposal not to stop smoking on the terraces
Despite the distance, the Spanish Government has in its hands a proposal to ban smoking on terraces. The draft has not yet been submitted to the regional representatives, as EiTB has published citing sources from the agency, but after clarifying several technical issues it will be prepared for discussion in the Interterritorial Commission of Communities.
The Spanish Government considers that this measure has two objectives: to prevent coronavirus infections and to "control the evolution of the disease". In this way, even with a capacity of two meters, a smoker could not smoke on the terrace of a bar or hostel if this proposal went ahead.
