The workers of the ikastolas and concerted centres in Navarre call on the government to start negotiating
  • It requires the Councillor of Education of Navarra, Carlos Gimeno, to negotiate the new educational agreement of Navarra in its mobilization in Pamplona. The workers complain that Gimeno only meets with the employers and does not take into account the requests for workers to meet for negotiation.

The unions LAB, ELA, UGT, SEPNA-FSIE denounce that the agreement of the workers of the centres that have established the Navarre Educational Pact will be repealed on 31 August and that the government has not yet made progress in negotiating the new agreement. The unions explain that since September the “new agreement” is being negotiated, but that the Education Advisor of Navarra, Carlos Gimeno, does not take into account the requests for meetings for a “real and effective” trade union negotiation.

Workers add that the agreement to maintain jobs, two years later, is blocked. This agreement would allow teachers to be incorporated into another agreed centre after job losses.

The workers of the concerted centres and the ikastolas state that they remain “dissatisfied” with the “lack of restraint and will” expressed by the employers and the administration in response to the call for the improvement of the working conditions of the workers.

The workers stress that they will continue to commit themselves to effective negotiation between the Department, the employers and trade union representatives. They say that if there are no changes they will have to make “stronger protest initiatives.” “The staff of the ikastolas and the centers deserve the attention and respect of the highest responsible for education, which is reflected in the quality of the teaching, which is what matters most to us,” he pointed out at the end of the hearing.
