The Government of Navarre starts using drones to monitor and punish citizens
  • The Government of Navarre has begun to directly control citizens through drones. On its website, it acknowledges that it has launched a "pilot experience" on the first weekend of May and shows in video how much the camera takes pictures directly from people. These live video images are sent to the headquarters of SOS Deiak in Navarra to be broadcast by SOS Deiak. The conclusion of the first weekend was that ten times the Foral Police was sent to check that the citizens respected the regulations of the state of alarm and two of them made the complaint to the citizens.

The Minister of Presidency, Equality, Public Service and Interior, Javier Remírez, has presented as "citizen security pilot project" the use of citizen control drones. A drone has been flying since last weekend to strengthen control and "avoid crowds" in the area, he said. In this way, it has encouraged "the appropriate use of preventive measures in public spaces during the de-escalation process".

This pilot project is in collaboration with the Foral Police to carry out civil protection. The images captured by the drone stream directly to the coordination center of SOS Deiak de Navarra, from where the police are mobilized at that time to "guarantee the social distance".

Also to monitor the customs of citizens

The Government of Navarra has stated that the use of drones will also serve to "better assess the behaviour and habits" of the population in the different phases of de-escalation.

In this video, broadcast by the Government of Navarra, you can see how far the drone shows people more accurately.
