On Sunday, May 16, 500 years have passed since the uprising of the citizens of the city of Lrupi against the Army of Castile occupying the city. The "Nafarroa berriz altxa" initiative found it unacceptable that in May 1521 those who bombed Irubin citizens had a monument in the centre of the city (statue in honor of Loyola's I-X-X) and that there was no recognition of Irujo's neighbours who rose up in favour of sovereignty.
To modify it, a motion was registered in the municipal registry of Pamplona "giving birth to these facts and assuming them as were the municipalities of Pamplona, observing the forgotten memory".
On the other hand, a popular tribute will be paid to the citizens who rose in 1521. It will be on May 22, Saturday, at 12 noon, in front of the Archive of Navarra.
