Road cut at the N-121-A in Bera to request the diversion of trucks on the international route
  • In response to the mayors' call, on Friday 28 February a crowd has concentrated to demand the cutting of the road in Bera and the diversion of trucks for international transport through the N-121-A. The request was first addressed to the Government of Navarre, which should refrain from negotiating. Mayors say it is a “filling” because there are already roads in Catalonia and La Rioja that have similar deviations in force.

After the road cut, mayors do not intend to stand: ‘In the medium term we intend to organise the movement’, says Joseba Otondo de Baztan and Xanti Uterga de Doneztebe/Santesteban, that ‘if there is no change, there will be other actions’.

As Aitor Elexpuru de Bera points out, “for our demands to be on the political agenda”, roadblocks, talks and various campaigns are planned. Juankar Unanua de Igantzi has clarified that the next road court will be held on 13 March in Uharte. AMETS Inda de Sunbilla, for its part, stressed that ‘the results will be achieved in the long term’ but sees ‘necessary’ to continue working now and then’.
