- On the occasion of the LGBTI Pride Day, this Thursday the TransMarikaBollo+ collective of San Sebastián organized a demonstration and announced a stop in front of the Good Shepherd. “For there is no god who does not celebrate our pleasure! Under the slogan “Munilla, the devil is looking for you”, people are encouraged to kiss.
Same-sex relationships, “intrinsically disordered”
“Tradition has always explained that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered,” said José Ignacio Munilla, Bishop of San Sebastián, in his book Sex with Soul and Body. He also emphasized in the Holy Scriptures that same-sex relationships are manifested as “grave depravity” and that such relationships cannot be tolerated in any case. For homophobic statements of this kind, the bishop has been criticized on several occasions by the LGBTI collective.
This Thursday, the demonstration will start at 19:30 from the Boulevard.
The 28th of June will not be the first protest to the Munilla in front of the Good Shepherd. During his appointment as bishop of San Sebastián, several LGBTI associations from Gipuzkoa gathered in front of the cathedral to denounce Munilla’s crusade against homosexual relations. By that time, the bishop had been presented as “a healer of neurotic yearnings present in the homosexual desire.”
And recently, on March 8, several women also sharply criticized the position of the bishop in front of the cathedral, after he said that "the devil has scored a goal" to feminism.
