The environmental group Sukar Horia reported on Sunday, through social networks, that they were punished with 2,000 euros of fine for the civil disobedience action carried out last year.

On 24 June 2020, two members of the group chained with drums in front of the Basque Government’s headquarters in Bilbao, “to denounce the economic policies of the Basque Government and demand a fair ecological transition”. Dressed in T-shirts with the slogan “Ecological Transition Now!” and tied with chains to two drums full of cement, the members cut off two lanes of Haro Major Street, Diego López. The civil disobedience action was maintained for two hours, until the fire brigade managed to release the two occupants from the vehicle's drums. In relation to the action, the Ertzaintza identified five of its members.

“A year later, we received a fine of EUR 2,000, in application of the Moorish Law. With these fines they want to silence our voice, but they do not succeed. There is no mozalbet that makes us shut up! We will go ahead, denouncing the rich pollutants and demanding a fair ecological transition,” said the group.

At the same time as the repression is reported, bonds have been issued to deal with the fine imposed on them. They say that if someone wants to access one of them, they simply have to contact them.
