These days we have known the agreement between the Government of Spain and the PNV: In exchange for supporting the general budgets of the State, the Government of Sánchez will sell to the City Hall of San Sebastian the lands of the Loiola barracks to build more than 2,000 homes in this area.
The appropriation of land from the Loiola barracks has been a historic request of the Basque institutions, as it occupies a large part of the Urumea bank, very close to the city center. The agreement, however, has the other side of the coin, which has now been announced by the Spanish Ministry of Defence: the military will continue in Donostia-San Sebastián - for them it was a red line "unnegotiable" - but very close to where they are, precisely in the lands occupied by the Real Sociedad Equipica 200 meters.
The lands of Hipica also belong to the Ministry of Defense and with the money that the Donostiarras have received from the sale of the former barracks, the Spanish Army will build a new building in that area.
