The Paris Court of Appeal rejects the request to release Mikel Barrios

On Monday, the Court of Appeal in Paris rejected the request for the release of Basque political prisoner Mikel Barrios, confirming his conviction. He was incarcerated on 29 June in Mont de Marsan prison to serve a five-year prison sentence.

The Bake Bidea association has described the decision as "disproportionate and incomprehensible", taking into account the current political context in Euskal Herria, as indicated. “The adaptation of the legal tools to the new reality is essential,” the members of the association stressed.

They have also appealed to the society of Euskal Herria to participate in the mobilizations to be convened on 19 September. - Comply with the punishment until death? 30 years suffices ", in support of prisoners Jakes Esnal, Ion Parot and Xistor Haranburu.

Cycling march

The Arrosadía Network will claim the freedom of Mikel Barrios on the march between 4 and 6 September. The first stage starts at 8.30 a.m. in Iturgoien and is expected to end in Aldude with a gala dinner. The second stage, between Aldude and Lahontan, will feature a popular meal in Itsasu, a town in which Mikel Barrios has resided in the Biscayan municipality in recent years. Finally, the march will reach the Mont de Marsan prison, and then the Solidarity Day will be held in Itsasu.
