The feminist movement is mobilizing to denounce the machista murder in Biarritz
  •   Both in Biarritz and in the capitals of Hego Euskal Herria, concentrations were held to denounce the murder of a woman last Thursday in Biarritz. The mobilizations have been organized by the Women's World March of the Basque Country: In Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao they met on Saturday and in Pamplona/Iruña and Donostia-San Sebastián they will meet on Monday.

On 14 April, the fire brigade located in a house in the Agilera district of Biarritz, next to the corpse of the woman, 77 years old. It is the 110 women murdered in the Basque Country by Machista violence since 2003, and the third in what goes on this year. According to data from Ipar Euskal Herria, between 2005 and 2020 there have been 25 forced murders of women in Biarritz, the first in the course of the year.

The Feminist Assembly organised a rally on Friday afternoon at the Biarritz People's House to denounce the murder of the 75-year-old woman under the slogan "non aux violences sexistes. No sexist violence."

In addition, mobilizations have also been carried out in the capitals of Hego Euskal Herria, organized by the World Women's March. On Saturday, in Bilbao they concentrated in the Plaza del Arriaga and on Sunday in Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca. Today, on the other hand, they will meet in Pamplona at 20:00 in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and in Donostia-San Sebastián at 19:00 on the Boulevard.

The World Women’s March has denounced in a statement that “Male violence has no limits. It is an indispensable tool for the functioning of the patriarchal capitalist system, it is a means to survive and maintain the power relations between the people that this model generates". "In the fight against male violence, the personal and collective responsibility of all social, political and institutional actors is essential, starting with education in any other area. It's time to move from words to practice," they said.
