- The economic and political situation we are experiencing these weeks shows us two things. One, we are absolutely dependent on the policies being pursued in the world, in Europe and in the states, and also on the production of gas and oil. Two: that policies in the hands of governments are simultaneously subject to economic fluctuations.
That is why it is so important that the political group that governs one way or another to deal with these two variables.
The European economic slowdown already appears to be a fact: Germany has a "cold" and will infect the other countries. Relations between China and the United States are not at the best time, and that is bad news for export countries such as the Basque Country.
And in the midst of all this comes the oil problem, the alleged attack on Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructures, which Trump, of course, has Iran guilty of. And knowing the current President of the United States, that can lead to a new war in the Gulf, with great human, social and economic damage to the whole world. We have not yet reached that, but it has become clear that oil is the basis of our economy and that it is increasing consumer products, threatening even employment itself.
The Basque Country also depends on Spain, France, Germany, the USA and China. In order to cope with this economic-political dependence, it is necessary to continue working and to continue fighting for the right to decide to carry out policies that favor the social majority. We cannot forget that depending on the government we choose to be more dependent or not.
