They call for the demolition of the Monument to the Fallen of Pamplona
  • The memorialist associations consider that the Palacio del Marqués de Rozalejo, where the Navarro Institute of Memory would be located, can be "a place of tribute, remembrance and remembrance", and bear the name of Marvels Lamberto. Protesters have stated that the agreement reached by the PSN, EH Bildu and Geroa Bai for the maintenance of the building is "insufficient".

A total of 33 memorialist associations, along with social groups, have mobilized in Pamplona to demand the dismantling of the Memorial to the Fallen and condemn its new significance. The march, which has gathered some 3,000 people, began at the monument where the remains of Francoist generals Emilio Mola and José Sanjurjo have remained buried for decades until they were exhumed eight years ago. Protesters have criticized the agreement between the PSN, EH Bildu and Geroa Bai to keep the building "not enough".

Spokeswoman Yolanda Ansó stressed the need to topple the monument, even more so on the 50th anniversary of Franco's death. “It would be a great gift to citizens; laws are human and can be changed,” said Ansó, who has asked PSN, EH Bildu and Geroa Bai to rectify their decision.

Spokesman Koldo Amatría stressed that the building “remains a symbol of Franco, despite the removal of the most spectacular elements”. As he explained, 20 years ago his exterior was covered and became an exhibition hall, "but nobody knows it that way," because the problem, he said, is the building itself. The spokesman pointed out that the Palace of the Marquis de Rozalejo, where the Navarro Institute of Memory would be located, "can be a place of homage, remembrance and homage, and can be called Marvels Lamberto". He denied that the same name would be used for the Memorial to the Fallen, as this “would mean that the name of Mola and Sanjurjo would replace the one of a child who suffered the repression”.

The demonstration has ended in the Plaza del Castillo, with the performance of several artists and musical groups. Among others, Fermín Balentzia, El Drogas, Ilargigorri and Faltzes have acted.
