Primary Education students of Ipar Euskal Herria should reuse the mask
  • The French Government has reported that the measure will apply from 8 November this year. The decision is motivated by the increase in the incidence rate in the area. For its part, the City of Salvatierra/Agurain has closed its playgrounds due to the increase in cases of COVID-19.

From next week in primary schools in Lapurdi, Baja Navarra and Zuberoa the mask will be obligatory. French Government spokesman Gabriel Attal has announced that in those departments where the incidence rate is higher than 50 per 100,000 inhabitants, the measure will be tightened up once the 50 barrier has been exceeded for five consecutive days.

The incidence rate in the Pyrenees Atlantiques department in the French Basque Country has increased: according to the latest data, on 2 November the incidence is 88 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Salvatierra children's parks closed

The municipality of Alavés has an incidence rate of 1,064 per 100,000 inhabitants, and according to the newspaper Berria, the City of Salvatierra has extreme measures: closing playgrounds, limiting the capacity of the music school and the sports club and suspending several days. It has also called on the Basque Government to carry out the PCR tests in the municipality itself, without having to travel to Vitoria-Gasteiz for this purpose. The Basque Department of Health considers that there is no need for screening in the area affected by the virus. For the time being, the new measures will be in force until 21 November.

COVID-19 cases in Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Álava are on the rise. According to data published this Monday, the incidence rate in CAV stands at 90. In Navarre there is also an upward trend: last week, from 25 to 31 October, the incidence rate has been 44 per 100,000 inhabitants.
