On 8 March 2024 it will not be a holiday in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, as decided by the Basque Government. The Vicelehendakari of the Basque Government, Idoia Mendia, proposed that this day be a holiday but opposed to the proposal some aspects of the opposition.

The PNV, EH Bildu and Elkarrekin We saw with good eyes that feminist ephemerides are red on the calendar. However, EH Bildu stated that on March 8 it intends to be a "transformative capacity" in the coming years, and for this it opposed to declaring itself a holiday. We can point out that the process must be shared with those who work within feminism. The PNV also pointed out that this decision must be preceded by a "process of reflection".

However, neither on March 8 nor any other feminist event will be a holiday in 2024 in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. On Tuesday, the Basque Government has approved the work schedule next year, instead of 8 March, it will be 25 July, Santiago Eguna, which will be marked in red.
