Waste incineration is barbaric when there is a better, cleaner and cheaper alternative than incineration. Friends, here by your side is underway, Zubieta's big black hole. This monster imposed on Gipuzkoan citizenship. Unfortunately, this is happening every day, if the disaster we announced a thousand times earlier was not enough, both the managers of the incinerator and the authorities that should act as representatives of the citizens, such as the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government hide the traces of this disaster. This is what we want to denounce in a protest organised by the Incineration Movement, with the support of Eguzki, Ekologistak Martxan, Donostia Bizirik and Greenpeace. They don't tell us the truth.

What do they not tell us about the Zubieta incinerator? They don't tell us how much CO2 emits into the air, how much of that CO2 that is making the climate go crazy. They do not tell us how many slag poison comes out of the furnaces in Zubieta, nor what they do with them. In the same way, they do not tell us what they do with the toxic powders that are left in the filters of the chimneys. Despite the figures mentioned by our authorities, it is concealed that last year, in 2021, 90,000 tonnes of recyclable waste was burned in our furnaces. Among them, 60,000 tons of organics that served to get the excellent compost that our land needs. Yes, 65 percent of what's burned in the furnaces here is actually recyclable. It's not embarrassing.

Is change not analyzable and feasible? Mention should be made of the barbarity that is being done here with organic waste. When everyone is concerned about the reduction and increase in food, about the reduction and increase in agricultural chemical fertilizers, when everyone is concerned about the ever-decreasing amount of organic matter in our lands. The Gipuzkoan authorities, by joining the waste lobby, waste our organic waste that serves to make a top quality compost.

Then these authorities in the PSE and the PNV and the waste industry fill their mouths without shame with transitions, ecology and anything. They spend a lot of money on communications, advertising and propaganda to whitewash and green the huge infrastructures built in Zubieta. They use the circular economy from word to mouth. They talk about the need to deal with the looming climate and the energy crisis. But they want to hide from the public that the waste model they promote in reality is wasteful. An energy that wastes public money and the health of citizens. The rulers say a circular economy, which is what is actually circular in their model, the way to get public funds into their pockets.

From here, from Zubieta we appeal to the main authorities in Gipuzkoa and to the managers of the incinerator, to stop this criminal incinerator. Open waste management systems all over Gipuzkoa. Respect the health and welfare rights of today's and tomorrow's citizens.

The women and men who are part of the Anti-incineration Movement want from here, from the portal of this corrupt incinerator in Zubieta, to acknowledge our thanks to the citizens, municipalities and communities who try to manage their waste well throughout Gipuzkoa. They will have to pay our debts, their health will suffer the diseases caused by our negligence. They will have to live, suffering the disasters of an increasingly insane climate.
