Cristina Laborda, acting Mayor of Irun, has sent a letter to MEP General Markel Olano requesting compliance with the toll opening convention.

In fact, Bidegi and ASF agreed some ten years ago that they would open up toll barriers in the face of traffic obstruction, but the incumbent mayor has remembered that it was only accomplished for a while. “Complying with this agreement would be a first step.”

Laborda explains that this is a problem that is dragging on too long over time and that this year, moreover, the bottlenecks have been brought forward over other years. He says that suburban roads are collapsed, so he denounces that urban roads become “sinks”.

They have also asked the competent bodies to make “joint efforts” to solve the problem through an institutional declaration. On Monday, all the municipal parties sent the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa proposals to settle the matter.
