According to the unions of the company Maderas de Llodio, the management has laid off three workers from the plant. In particular, redundancies took place on 27 September, claiming a drop in performance in recent months. The works council has denied the accusations, and has denounced that this is "a falsehood". In particular, a representative of the workers explained this Monday to Aiaraldea that the dismissed have not broken the discipline of the company.
That’s why they’ve mobilized on Monday and Monday from 13:00 to 15:00 hours at the company’s door. The Works Council has stated that "we cannot accept any kind of dismissal based on lies or dismissals of any kind". There is no reason to justify this destruction of employment."
The trade unions have explained that the company has shortcomings in its demands and that this is why the volume of work has been reduced. As a result, the works council and management agreed in September to stop working on Fridays to prevent redundancies. Workers’ organisations have now accused the company of not complying with what was promised.
LAB, ELA, CCOO and UGT add that it has only been a year since the Garnica group purchased Llodio Woods and that it is evident the little importance it gives to workers.
