A luxurious Hilton hotel is built in the Fine Arts Building of San Sebastian
  • It was known that the Fine Arts Building in San Sebastian was preparing a business related to tourism, but it was a secret who was behind it. ARGIA has known that Hilton is a multinational hotel that has been mentioned on a line in the economic balance of its first quarter of the year. After the building's owner, Sade, has dropped for almost decades, the iconic building, the former film building and the headquarters of the Donostian orpheon, will become a luxury hotel.

The report, which highlights that it has earned $211 million net in the first quarter, says verbatim on the second page:

Two offers have been launched in this quarter, under the brand Curiosity Collection Hilton. These are: Royal Palm Galapagos in Ecuador and the Palace of Fine Arts in San Sebastian.

Eleven city agents summoned the demonstration against the demolition.

The iconic building, built in 1914, is therefore about to become part of the heritage that the city will lose. In his day they said he will have 84 rooms and robotic underground parking. The Sade company has demolished everything but the exterior facade, and they have announced that the dome of which it was so unique will be rebuilt.

There have been many protests against transforming the building into a hotel. The Ancora Association for Architectural Heritage and other groups of the city carried out a collection of signatures and mobilizations, and declared that the demolition of the Fine Arts Building was "crossing the red line". The ICOMOS network issued an "international alarm" against the destruction of this building.

Since Eneko Goia is mayor of San Sebastian, there are 50 hotels that have opened or approved in the city.

Six years ago, the elitization of San Sebastian is accelerated in the report on the impact that this process is having on the city, which later became evident.
