Last December the Gipuzkoan association for organic farming Biolur announced the Amillubi, lurra taupaka initiative. The Amilibia farmhouse, located in the meander of the Urola River, in the Iraeta district of Zestoa, and its grounds have been initiated with the aim of transforming them into collective goods. In this report we explain the project in depth.

"In the context of the current ecological crisis and the difficulties of the primary sector, Amillubi intends to be a small but strategic step towards the development of Food Sovereignty in Euskal Herria, following the trail of Lurzaindia launched a few years ago in the Northern Basque Country," said Biolur. To this end, they have launched a collection of EUR 150,000, which up until now have contributed EUR 100,000 through contributions from citizens, collectives and entities. The challenge is to achieve an additional EUR 50,000 by the end of May (this can be provided) and to this end, among other initiatives, they have organised an all-day party.

The Lurra taupaka festival "beyond the collection to share the project"

One of the objectives of the Amillubi project is to bring together citizens in the project and take steps towards food sovereignty. To this end, two major meetings are planned each year: one in the spring (the first feast of 11 May) and another in the autumn. The spring meetings are intended to give a "playful character" and the autumn meetings will focus on reflection: "To define medium-term projects and agree on a long-term roadmap", the members said.

The Amillubi project has summoned all citizens to visit Amillubi on 11 May, learn about the project and enjoy the Lurra Taupaka festival.
