The former Minister of Education with Lula, Fernando Haddad, will be the candidate for the presidency of the Workers’ Party (PT). The Workers' Party has stressed that Haddad has the support of the former president of the Generalitat Valenciana.
Haddad's candidacy has been made public in the city of Curitiba, where Lula is serving a prison sentence. Lula, who was admitted to prison in April, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a crime of alluding to terrorism.
Lula, according to the polls, was the favorite to win the elections with 40% in the two laps. Haddad, for his part, would get 9% of the votes, becoming the fifth most voted force. Haddad trusts in obtaining the votes of his "political godfather", who he has described as "unacceptable".
