On July 18, Lucio Urtubia, an anarchist born in the Ribera Navarra, died. In the town in which he was born, they will pay tribute to him: It will be in the Parque del Romero, this Saturday, at 12:00 hours.
Urtubia was born in 1931 and moved to Paris at the age of 23. From then on, he had two lives at once: he worked as a canteron during the day and collaborated with various revolutionary movements during the night. Among the main actions carried out in this second life is the theft of the First National City Bank, which forged checks, subtracted 20 million euros to the multinational financial institution and “invested in the people who needed it”.
Thanks to this type of action, he had contact with many personalities from the left of the 20th century, such as the “Che” Ernesto Guevara or the writer and thinker Albert Camus.
