Estella residency workers are installed to prevent contagion
  • The 15 workers have packed their bags, dismissed their relatives and become a workplace. Seeing the serious cases of contamination and death that have occurred in other residences, it is thus intended to protect the 62 elderly residents of the San Jerónimo residence.

News from Navarre has given the news. The 15 caregivers have entered the residence late on the night of 23 March and will not leave it until the coronavirus peak has passed. The initiative was taken by the workers and the decision was taken on 20 March, with the head of the residence, David Cabrero.

They checked that they had no symptoms and made a decision that was not easy for them. The quoted newspaper includes the following words from Cabrero: "We had a sense of guilt because we could take ourselves to the coronavirus' residence when we went to work. We thought this was what we had to do. Responsible for our work."

To completely isolate the residence, the elderly cannot receive visits from their families. They approach the exterior fence and maintain their relationship through numerous video calls.

The workers who have completed the residency have indicated that, at the end of their work shift and when the elderly go to sleep, they have the objective of each having a time and space for himself, in order to throw away the stressors of work. They recognize that the hardest thing is to be away from their loved ones.
