Three of the four detainees are ordered to leave the Spanish State and in the case of the fourth have reported irregularities in the operation. In the working group with the Port Authority of Bilbao, the police dismantled nineteen passenger camps. In this sense, they explained that these accommodations were in "poor condition and very poor hygiene". The Advocates of the Basque People and Navarre have called for the protection of migrant minors, whom they consider easy to handle in the trafficking network.

The migrants who were in the port of Bilbao were intended to reach the United Kingdom. There are many who manage to get there in trucks that are transported on boats. This year, 800 attempts have been made, but the increase in previous years is notable: According to data published by El Independiente, the number of attempts in 2015 rose to 119 on fifteen occasions in two years. That is, in 2017 there were about 1,800 attempts. In October of the same year, the Port of Bilbao built a concrete wall to prevent the clandestine travel of migrants. The British channel BBC, for its part, took a look at the cases that have occurred in the Biscayan capital, and called it a "migratory crisis in Bilbao".
