Aernnova dismissed four Dallas engineers’ staff last Friday to start a workforce reduction plan. The company is applying the formula of disciplinary redundancies, leaving workers without compensation for dismissal. The workers have received the news 24 hours after the last mobilisation against the redundancies called by the workers of the company.
Similar redundancies are also taking place in other plants in the group. The management wanted to justify redundancies with the low production and losses suffered by the aeronautics sector. The trade unions, for their part, have argued that the situation is "cyclical and non-structural" and have criticised the closure.
After these first four layoffs, the workers of the Alavesa plant have assured that they will return many more. More information on redundancies will be available in the next few hours and days, they said, "many jobs will be lost".
Aernova announced in July its intention to cut its international workforce by 20%, dismissing 950 workers from all the plants in the group. Aernova has a staff of 450 people at the Berantevilla plant.
