The National Police calls to declare four young people and arrests three of them in Vitoria-Gasteiz
  • The National Police appeared in the homes of the four Spanish youth and only managed to arrest two of them in 2010. On Wednesday morning, a third arrested person was arrested by the Foral Police. At 19:30 a.m. a demonstration will be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz to reject the arrests of two people.

The Spanish National Police has arrested three young Vitorians in connection with the General Strike of 30 January, from Tuesday, 10 November until the time this news was written. The arrests are related to alleged incidents in the mobilizations that have taken place in France.

On Tuesday, countryman cops showed up in the homes of four young people with an order to declare at the Betoño police station. Two of them were introduced into cars and brought to testify, while the other two did not. One of those who was not arrested has already been arrested this Wednesday afternoon. At this time, the three young people detained in Vitoria-Gasteiz have already been released by court order. However, several sources have told Hala Bedi that more arrests can still be made.

According to Hala Bedi, the young people were not notified of any official notification to go to testify, only the statement was communicated verbally.

The same sources have called to take the streets "in the face of the attacks that are taking place against Basque youth" and have called for a mobilisation on Wednesday at 19:30 from the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca.

General Strike for Dignity

The Charter of Social Rights of Euskal Herria convened on 30 January last a General Strike in defense of employment, pensions and dignified life.

Thousands of strikers took to the streets of Álava for the impetus of the social struggles of recent years. The morning pickets interrupted the activity in the workplaces and at noon went to the streets of Vitoria-Gasteiz 25,000 people. In the afternoon, the mobilizations continued throughout Álava, where the mobilizations began to paralyze.
