Under the motto “Organizing a collective response to aggression”, Beasain’s neighbours have rejected the rape that took place during the weekend. Hundreds of people congregated in Beasain's Bideluze Square, and local mayor Aitor Aldasoro has condemned the rape and shown his readiness for the victim and his family to say "whatever they need".

In a press release published by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, he pointed out that male violence is a major problem: “Male violence is a major problem, developed from power relations, whose objective is to maintain the domination of women.”

Concentrations in Pamplona and Santurtzi

Pamplona (Navarra) and Santurtzi (Bizkaia) have also been the scene of rallies of revulsion over the sexual assaults that occurred during the local festivities. In the Basque capital they have denounced the events that took place last day 6, while in Santurtzi they have denounced the touching that a 19-year-old man has performed on a woman of the same age. Santurtzi's aggressor was arrested in Portugalete on the same night when he was also arrested.

The aggressor of Sestao was also arrested

On Saturday afternoon, a woman reported having been assaulted by her partner in the family home, after a discussion. The victim has denounced that he held her by the neck, pushed her and threatened her with a knife. The man, who was arrested on the same day by the Ertzaintza, has been taken to court this morning for a crime of gender-based violence.
