The festive atmosphere was taken over this Wednesday morning by the Navarre town of Larraitz. The Opening Feast of the Pastures of Aralar has been celebrated. Until October, about 19,250 animals will be fed in the grasslands of the Enirio-Aralar Commonwealth. Of these, 17,500 will be sheep, 1,000 cows and 750 mares.
Since the first hour of the morning, something had to be seen in Larraitz. They have been placed by craftsmen, they could also buy cheese, other food and pintxos. In addition, the dance group Ostadar has offered a performance throughout the morning and at noon the bertsolaris Mikel Mendizabal and Bixente Gorostidi have offered an action.
The main event took place at 11:30 a.m. in Bilbao. Arantxa Ariztimuño, Director of Montes y Medio Natural de la Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa, and José Miguel Santamaría, President of the Enirio-Aralar Commonwealth, have taken the floor before acquiring the key of the portillo of the pastures. The latter has been in charge of opening the pastures to the president of the College of Montes de Garazi, Jojo Goienetx. Together with them, representatives of the joint municipalities and members of the trade unions have participated.
After the onstage recital, the stage members approached LARGUERO and Goienetxe opened the door after launching the rocket Mayor of Abaltzisketa, Jon Zubizarreta. At the same time, cows, mares and sheep have entered between applause and grazing.
