Whatsapp farmers are starting a new activity this Thursday morning. Officially located outside the trade unions, there are groups of labourers in the Southern and Northern Basque Country which are "asyndicals" and which intend to jointly block the motorway between Gipuzkoa and Lapurdi.

Whatsapp has been sending gummies to farmers, whether or not they are affiliated, through whatsapp messages, and is about to see how much support they will receive. The organization foresees a "monumental" collapse. The quote is at 10:30 in the ITV area of Irun to go from there to Biriatura. In the case of the Northern Basque Country, they move in groups towards the A64 and A63 highways.

As you have explained through notes, they want to transfer an ultimatum to the governments of the European Union, France and Spain: if they do not respond to the demands, from 1 June they will mobilise "without limits".

Mobilized unions

Both in the South Basque Country and in Iparralde, trade unions are still mobilized. Convened by UAGA and Trebiñu and Araba Landaren Alde Elkartea, since 5 March, dozens of farmers remain united with the Basque Government, always with tractors. The quote is a month after the first tractors that collapsed Vitoria. The Deputy has seen "progress" in recent days, including the commitment to return advanced primary sector VAT this month by 2023. In addition, Naiz was able to learn that the Basque Government’s Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, Arantza Tapia, has proposed an appointment for Friday to the EHNE, ENBA and UAGA unions.

On 5 March, the Provincial Council of Álava approved two calls for aid to the agricultural sector totalling approximately EUR 5 million for 2024, 2025 and 2026. With this measure, the institution aims to "modernise" agriculture and livestock to improve "competitiveness" and "professionalisation". They are meeting with the trade unions again in the coming days with a view to dialogue on the set of demands.

The Navarros unions have also been quoted for this Thursday in Pamplona. In particular, they have approved the General Budgets of Navarre and have chosen the voting date for mobilisation. During the morning, dozens of peasants are rehearsed to enter parliament, but the police cut them off. Euskalerria Irratia collected in video:

UAGA, EHNE Nafarroa and EHNE Gipuzkoa organize a mobilization for 19 March. The quote is in Vitoria.
