Agreement in the residences of Bizkaia
Workers’ wages will rise by EUR 340 by 2025, after two years of struggle
- It is a new convention affecting more than 5,000 workers, the result of a labour conflict that has lasted almost two years and 68 strikes. ELA signed a pre-agreement with the employers at midday on Tuesday.

Five thousand workers, mostly women in nursing homes of the elderly in Bizkaia. The ELA union stresses that there have been two years of struggle, with almost 68 days of strike. The ELA trade union has signed the new convention, which represents 64% of the representation.
Wages for the year 2025 will increase by around 23% according to percentages higher than the CPI. For that year, the salary of a manager goes from EUR 1,460 per month to EUR 1,800. In addition, they agree on the rises of the Dominican pluses and the increase of antiquity.
Historically, they have demanded that job replacements start from day one so as not to harm their peers, they have also signed it.
