Recent data from the Department of Employment and Employment of the Basque Government show that the unemployment rate at the end of the year has fallen to around 8%, a figure that has barely dropped a few tenths since the end of 2021 – 2020. In 1996, the unemployment rate was 10%.

With complete data, in Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa there are 110,798 unemployed and registered active people 4,047 fewer than a year earlier.

The indicators said that between November and December last year unemployment was going to fall, because sales are an important time and many short-term contracts are usually made, but this has not been the case: 88 more unemployed.

The Foral Government said that the data for the month of November were optimal, because unemployment fell significantly with regard to the Spanish State, but they cannot say so in December. In total there are almost 300,000 employed and 31,610 unemployed registered in the labour services of Navarra.
