By the end of 2019 the number of unemployed is 147,360 people. The number of 152,516 people at the end of 2018 decreased by 3.4%. In the Basque Autonomous Community the number of unemployed stands at 114,162 people, 4.81% less than last year, while in Navarre 33,198 are counted, 1.08% more than a year ago.

Despite the downward trend in numbers throughout the year, the month of December 2019 has ended with a bittersweet taste. In fact, last December there were a total of 1,167 more unemployed, more than half (782) in Navarre. In general, according to the Ministry of Labour, there are 3,087 fewer unemployed in Bizkaia; there are 1,355 in Gipuzkoa and 1,070 in Álava. In Navarre, on the other hand, the number of unemployed has increased by 356 people so far this year.

Good data in Social Security

As for Social Security, the number of participants in the four territories of Hego Euskal Herria increases: In the CAV there are 980,592 members, which is 18,488 more than at the end of 2018. In Navarre there has also been a predominance of positive data, with a total of 289,851 participants, 7,210 more than a year ago, which implies an annual decrease.
