Cuco account
  • This year I am very concerned: the cuckoo has not made cuckoo. We heard it for a couple of days, but since then we have not heard the sound of the cuckoo in our valley again. From squatting to squatting, the cuckoo's cuckoo had to be poorly accustomed each year, a song that was set to the end of the winter and shrunk on hot days.

In ours, the cuckoo has given much to talk about. Mark a milestone on the calendar. The cuckoo comes and the day extends magnificently, and the laughter of most of us. It's a sign in culture and in language. Let us leave language issues for others, and here are some cultures.

We know that culture is chaos and thank you, because without chaos, what culture would it be? Well, on the plants of our culture, we have tremendous chaos: a cuckoo upstairs down. The change of time and the renewal of the sweat of our landscape bring the cuckoo in the spring equinox, when the cuckoo herb (Aquileguia vulgaris) opens the flowers and tells it a delicious “come” color violet. The poet, in his madness, will see the reverse, the cuckoo comes with his rapid flight to create landscapes and blooms. The cuckoo has a special quick flight, like almost everything: that male singing, the laziness of raising puppies and, as a consequence, laying eggs in the nests of other birds and parasitizing them... To a peasant and a man who lives a little near nature, the cuckoo offers him a nice opportunity, and that is what has triggered chaos. It's the chaos of names that has been put on plants that flourish at the time when the cuckoo is here. The name that has been given to them is not going to be chaos, but the users annihilate the plant nomenclature.

To tell the cushion (Aquileguia vulgaris) that we have just mentioned, I know at least two other names: the laufraka and the sign lily. The laufrac, by the four ends of the flowers, and the sign flowers, looking down, by the shape of a bell or by the sign that makes the cuckoo, or ... It's also called sign grass, the mother's glove. I do not dare to put his scientific name, but what we call kukuku-praka (Digitalis purpurpurpurpurea) is thus said in Spanish that colonize us: the glove of the virgin and in French gant de notre dame.

The "kuku-pant" has many names in our country: donkeys or astolilis, kuku-lore, kuku-porru, joane-belar, azkutai, sukar-belar and ditare-lore at least. Astolil is also called: poppy (Papaver rhoeas), thick foot or peony (Paeonia spp. ), Dragon tip (Antirhinum spp.) and to the evil or ordinary lilipa (Narcissus pseudonarcissus). Poppy is also called "cuckoo weed." The evil ambulatory or common lilipa is also called coupé.

In the oak (Quercus robur) they also call the cuckoo apples, and when the cuckoo is dead they will become cuckoo bullets.

What a cuckoo sauce! We will have to ask those who speak the language and, by taking it under the saddle, round the dictionaries, of course, in favour of chaos.
