The negotiations are not backward: the trade unions are calling for a new labour pact and Kristau Eskola says that he has no means to do so. Ten years ago the last convention was signed, and the unions are calling for a new one. The spokesmen of the trade unions considered it necessary to intensify the strike in the face of the immobilization shown by both the employers and the Department of Education in the face of these demands.

Trade unions ELA, LAB, Steilas and CCOO have called for a strike, among others. So far, UGT has also been by its side, but in recent months the union has discarded itself from the proposal.

The Department of Education of the Basque Government has not intervened in the conflict, has not pronounced itself on this being done, claiming that the problem is between Kristau Eskola and the trade unions. However, trade unions have denounced this attitude as "irresponsibility".

The centres that are going to strike bring together more than 10,000 students. Last year, 24 days of strike took place and the AMPAs complained about it.
