Request the Paris Police for drone containment control
  • Two human rights and freedoms associations have called on the Paris Police Prefecture to use drones to control confinement since 18 March. The associations call, among other things, for all the images that could be acquired in this way to be erased.

The Police has used aerial drones to order people to return home and to record those who are not in compliance with the lockdown. Faced with this, the League for Human Rights and La Quadrature du Net have filed a complaint on 2 May in which they ask that images be stopped with drones and that any image taken so far be erased, condemning EUR 1,024 per day of delay.

Associations have recalled that what drones have done, in addition to violating people's privacy, is an illegal practice. “It’s serious, it’s being done outside the law, because the use of drones has not been authorised by any administrative action,” the associations have criticized.

Also outside Paris, drones have been used in the French State to control confinement in other parts of the country.
