The Basque Confederation asks elected officials to address subjects in Basque in bilingual colleges and colleges
  • On 25 March, the OPE General Assembly will be held, which will record the courses to be taught in Basque in the bilingual section. The confederation that groups together the agents of the Basque world has asked the elect to defend teaching in Basque "in the face of the opposite pretension of National Education".

According to French law, bilingual schools, both public and private, must respect the "parity" between the school hours in Basque and French. If in the first course parity is a reality, both in schools and in the lyceum they are "far away" from that balance, since the French teachings are clearly dominant. Thus, the Basque Football Confederation has once again triggered the alarm and called on the elected officials to act responsibly.

On 25 March, the Basque Language Public Congress will be held, which will address the distribution of the subjects in Basque and French. In this structure there are three representatives of the Commonwealth of Iparralde, as well as three from the department of Aquitaine and the French State, including the rector of the Bordeaux Academy. Stressing the importance of this day, he sent the following message to the electorate: "Faced with the administrative obstacles, regardless of the internal reasons of the gigantic institution, faced with the contrary intention of National Education, the teaching of the Basque country that necessarily has to develop must be defended and prioritized".

The Basque Confederation has recalled that, in addition to the model of school immersion of the mother, the increase in Basque hours in schools and high schools is "the key to the improvement of the quality of the bilingual section". In addition, he stressed the need to ensure this offer throughout the territory, both in the urban centers and in the interior of Ipar Euskal Herria.
