Gaztetxe Kijera: A year reliving the Old Part of Donostia

September 2, 2018 was the first day of the La Concha Flag; in a festive atmosphere, sudden noise occurred at the old Orixe school, on number 2 of Kanpandegi Street. A group of young people entered the old school, after seeing the need for a gaztetxe in the neighborhood.

Since then, it has been home to various movements and agents of the neighborhood and of Donostia-San Sebastián. In recent years, the number of gaztetxes in the Gipuzkoan capital has been decreasing, and the fact of having a gaztetxe in the Donostia-San Sebastián more tourist has reinforced the different agents and demands.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of Gaztetxe Kijera, the members of the Gaztetxe have organised an all-month programme to celebrate the year and continue to join forces. It will start on Wednesday, 4 September, and until the 28th several activities have been organised, including Big Week. The first offer will be a circus workshop open at 18:00 in the afternoon. Next Sunday, on the last day of races, a bar will open in the gaztetxe itself and on Saturday, September 14, at 11:00 hours, the talk Expropriated Memory will take place.

On Sunday, the 19th will perform a kalejira for the neighborhood, and on Sunday, 22 an auzolan has been organized to clean and improve the gaztetxe of the town. Finally, on September 28, a popular meal and a broad programme of the whole day will be organized to close the anniversary. In addition to the above, a workshop of capoeira, a workshop of reusable compresses, a championship of mus and other workshops and events has been organised.
