On Friday they will try to prevent "the Spanish king from going through impunity" in Catalonia.
  • Social agents and political parties from the Catalan countries have called for the protection of the most emblematic places in Barcelona with the human chains for July 17 in protest at the visit of King of Spain Felipe. The king is making visits to all the Autonomous Communities on this post-pandemic tour, and by the end of July he is also scheduled to arrive in Navarre and the CAV, but these appointments are for now secret.

According to Vilaweb, the protesters have offered a press conference in front of the Sagrada Familia temple on July 14. This cathedral will be one of those surrounding the human chains, but they also have more plans: Colon sculpture or the beach of Barcelona, for example. The conveners are Òmnium Cultural, ANC, ERC, JxCat and the Cup, among others.

"This dark and oppressive corrupt monarchy is not welcome in Catalonia"

The Vice-President of Òmnium Cultural, Marcel Mauri, made the following statements at a press conference: "Catalonia has no king", and has called for the citizens to make it clear on the street that "this corrupt, dark and repressive monarchy is not welcome in Catalonia". He has announced that they will take action throughout Catalonia to "prevent the Spanish kings from crossing with impunity".

I remember the king's speech on 3 October.

Mauri has stressed that the Catalans have not forgotten the violence of 1 October, nor the king's "regrettable speech" of 3 October. The signatories of the manifesto denounce that any attempt to investigate the origin of the property of Bourbon "is vetoed for being a secret state, protected by the powers of the State and by the heirs to the regime of 78".
