The Catalan media had been awaiting the ruling on the disobedience case of President Quim Torra for two weeks. It didn't happen until Thursday. Two hours after the European Court of Justice ruled on former Catalan Vice-President Oriol Junqueras, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia made its decision known.

Judges have decreed that the president be disqualified for a period of eighteen months. The non-withdrawal of the banner on political prisoners on the facade of the Palau de la Generalitat, against the order of the Central Electoral Board, is a crime of disobedience. Torra said that, following the ratification by the Supreme Court of the resolution, he would surrender his office to the Parliament of the Generalitat: "I am not incapable of a political court, only Parliament can disable me."
