Journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohamadi will be sentenced to six and seven years in prison, respectively, for announcing the death of Mahsa Amini, who died in September last year in police custody. The police arrested Amini, a young Kurdish from Iran, for "not bringing the Islamic veil well".

Niloofar Hamedi Amini has been condemned for spreading some photographs. These pictures show Amin's family around the young man's hospital bed. Elaheh Mohamadi, for his part, wrote a report on Amini's religious funeral.

Hamedi will be sentenced to seven years ' imprisonment and six years ' imprisonment from Mohamadi, attributing to both the cooperation with the United States, the conspiracy to commit crimes against state security and the opening of proceedings against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Both journalists have been in prison since September 2022. According to the official note sent on Sunday by Iranian agency Mizan, journalists still have access to the appellate instance, but if the appeal did not succeed they should serve the longest prison sentence.
