In December 2022, the local council voted for the Basque name roads to be written in Basque, rather than in French grammar. As the journalist has reported, the voters present last Friday at the council of the town of Cambo discussed in their writing the option of re-translating the names of the French streets and roads.
Opposition group Nahi Herria spoke at the end of the local council to defend the decision to translate Basque. The conclusion of another opposition electorate, Peio Etxeleku, radically changed the meaning of the session. "An elected majority, Roger Barbier, tells us his irrational counterarguments, accusing us of being a 'terrorist' without hesitation," Etxeleku said. The sitting is therefore suspended and the debate on the designation of the streets is pending.
