Hospital workers call for quality public health
  • The workers in Osakidetza are exhausted by the pandemic and have therefore concentrated at the gates of the hospital in the Guipuzkoan capital in a sign of mourning. The ELA and LAB unions have mobilized in defence of public health and quality and have called for a strike for tomorrow, 12 January, in Bizkaia. The strike took place two weeks ago in Álava and last week in Gipuzkoa. Representatives of the trade unions ELA, LAB, CCOO, UGT and SATSE participated in the concentration.

The workers have denounced that Osakidetza has not shown any intention to engage in dialogue with the trade unions and have stressed that the situation they are experiencing is really serious. This means of communication has talked to the company and member of the union LAB Lourdes Barragán, denouncing that the workers are “overloaded with work” and “tired”: “We have many calendar changes and we have hardly any public holidays”, he said. He has also insisted that the problem is "structural" and stated that the whole of society needs to be put in place to fight.

On the other hand, the unions will protest at 13:00 in the city's Primary Care health centers. In addition, citizens will focus this afternoon on the outpatient clinics in the various neighborhoods of the city, where several people will be concentrated.
