It was the 1981 New Year's Eve and it was very cold in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It was then that a Basque version of The Clash began to sound in the Alavesa capital, when the Hertzainak group was born, which will mark several generations.
His first members were Josu Zabala Ajuriagerra, Kurro, Delfo, Txanpi and Kike and Xabier Montoia "Gamma", who in the summer of 1982 left the group and joined Gari as a singer.
In their first albums, they mixed punk's provocation with dance rhythms of ska and reggae, reflecting in his letters the political and social conflict of Euskal Herria. For example, the song Pakean Kanta Art was dedicated to Javier San Martín Goikoetxea, a member of the Piti Anticapitalist Autonomous Commands, as he was a friend of the group's components.
In 1993 the group dismissed the Real Sociedad with a special performance in the sports club of Anoeta de Donostia-San Sebastián.
After 26 years, Josu Zabala and Gari have announced a special concert: on September 26 they will play at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao the songs of six records of Hertzainak in an “unrepeatable” concert. They have also titled this special event: It will be more joyful than ever.
A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, giving more details of the event.
