The Advisory Council formed by journalist Jose Joaquin Forcada Forki, the Communication Officer of Ego, Auria Etxeandia, and the technician of the Music section of Donostia Kultura, Esther Fernandino, has unanimously decided to award the 2017 Adarra Award to Joseba Tapia.
In awarding the prize, they have taken into account Joseba Tapia’s long career, its versatility – which has demonstrated its musical excellence in different styles and with a large number of great musicians – the preservation and dissemination of the heritage of popular music and the creation of many new pieces, as well as the demonstration of the actuality of the accordion in different musical environments and environments.
The awards ceremony will take place on 21 June, at 19:30 a.m., at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre in Donostia-San Sebastián. The Mayor of Donostia-San Sebastian, Eneko Goia, will be in charge of awarding the prize on behalf of Donostia Kultura.
After the event, Tapia will present her new album, Egon or no egon, surrounded by a large group of people: Nerea Erbiti (voice), Olaia Inziarte (voice), Kristina Aranzabe (voice), Iñigo Telletxea (bass), Iker Uriarte (jazz), Jexux Aranburu (keyboard), Ion Celestino (trumpet), AMETS Aznarez (trombón), Saxibon Irixoa.
Tapia, who was going to act on April 28 at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, will be in charge of replacing him with the June concert. Tickets are for sale for 18 euros at the lockers of the Victoria Eugenia Theatre and Main Theatre of Donostia-San Sebastián and on the website of Donostia Kultura.
The City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastian and Donostia Kultura created the 2017 Adarra Award in 2014, with the objective of honoring an artist who has made or is performing a trajectory of special relevance or influence in the field of Basque music every year. Mikel Laboa, Ruper Ordorika, Benito Lertxundi, Fermin Muguruza, Anari, Berri Txarrak, Kepa Junkera and Amaia Zubiria have been the winners of the last edition of the awards.
